The Rota Animal Welfare League (RAWL) is an independent animal care facility which is fully funded by donations and staffed by volunteer workers. Our purpose is to take in and care for stray, abandoned, and unwanted dogs and cats until caring homes can be found for them.

Hours of Operation:
Tuesday: 5 pm - 7 pm
Thursday: 5 pm - 7 pm
Saturday: 1 pm - 3 pm

It's always a good idea to call or email before stopping by. We are happy to meet you by appointment. If we can't be reached at the main RAWL number 956-82-4000, you can always contact a RAWL board member by cell phone.

When the weather heats up, we shift to later summer hours for the evening shifts. If you see a car at RAWL and stop by for help, please remember that some people only work with the animals and may not be able to answer questions but will be able to put you in contact with the appropriate person.

Placing an Animal at RAWL

If you would like RAWL to accept a pet or stray, you must speak with a board member. PETS MAY NOT BE DROPPED OFF AT RAWL.

Animals are accepted at RAWL based on space availability, financial considerations and volunteer availability. Animals will not be accepted unless they can be considered adoptable, are spayed/neutered, disease-free and current on shots. RAWL reserves the right to refuse to take in any animal.

One dog “slot” and one cat “slot” are designated for animals from the community. RAWL maintains a list of people who would like to place their animals with RAWL, and refers to this list as slots become open. Community animals are subject to the same admittance restrictions as any other animals admitted to RAWL.

Owners wishing to place a pet with RAWL will be subject to fees ranging from $50 to $150 depending on whether the animal is spayed/neutered and current on it shots.

Please contact a board member if you have any questions.

Finding a New Home for Your Pet

If you must find a new home for your pet, or if you are trying to place a stray animal, RAWL can help. Contact a board member about advertising your animal on the Community List page of our website.
